Robert J. Shearer is the co-founder, former chairman and chief executive officer of Shearer’s Foods, Inc., the manufacturer/distributor of Shearer’s award-winning snacks. He began his career early in the family-owned grocery store and continued working through college, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Walsh University in 1974. When the family decided to buy a potato chip distribution business that same year, Mr. Shearer sold and delivered products to customers. For 38 years, Shearer led the rapid growth of the Massillon, Ohio-based Shearer Foods. During his tenure, the company grew from a $4 million business with a handful of associates to a multi-million dollar business with more than 1,850 associates.
Shearer’s Foods has won numerous recognitions and awards. Shearer, inducted into the Northeast Ohio Business Hall of Fame and named Distinguished Citizen of the Western Reserve, is a recipient of numerous entrepreneurial awards.
Graduate Assistants and Fulbright Scholarship Recipients are expected to attend this event.
