OliviaTestimonial2.pngThe cultural perspective I learned can be summarized by what a woman said to me on my first night in Valladolid- that there’s a trade-off between living in Spain versus the United States. In the U.S., you live to work. You make lots of money, but you don’t get to have as much freedom, and for many people, their life is their job. Spain is the opposite- you work to live. You do not make as much money, but you get to slow down and enjoy life!

android-chrome-192x192.pngThe Spanish for Business class offered by the University of Valladolid gave me insight to how businesses function and are categorized throughout Spain. Beyond learning about the specific types of businesses with legal rights within Spain, I was able to create a Curriculum Vitae (CV), or our version of resume. Utilizing this CV showed me how my skills and education can be applied to international business. Along with these topics, everyday we were presented and exposed to new vocabulary, which helped me understand news topics about the economy in Spain and Europe."

Emily O'Quin1.jpgI learned a lot about the cultural aspects of Spain, both through my culture class, and through talking to my host family, as well as through lived experiences that I had while in Spain. Overall, my time in Spain was an amazing and eye-opening experience that I won’t soon forget! I am excited to travel to Spain again and to visit other Spanish speaking countries!
