Each year the Office of New Student Orientation interviews some of UA’s best and selects a group of enthusiastic, dedicated, and independent undergraduate student leaders to serve as Orientation Leaders in the spring and summer.
The 2017 Orientation Leader Application Process is now closed! Please check back in September 2017 for 2018 application information.
Orientation Leaders are the first faces of The University of Akron, serving as representatives of the UA student body, group facilitators, and role models. Orientation Leaders help incoming students and their families’ feel good about the choice they’ve made in UA and help them transition into their new roles. Orientation Leaders will take away new skills and experiences that will open doors and aid them in future careers and opportunities. Plus, it’s always a summer full of fun and memories! Our team of Orientation Leaders soon becomes a family!

Each year, we hire one graduate assistant who is pursuing a degree in Higher Education, Communications, Business, or Public Administration.
Each spring the Office of New Student Orientation interviews and selects a large group of outgoing, enthusiastic, and dedicated undergraduate student leaders to serve as New Roo Weekend Leaders during New Roo Weekend at the end of summer.

New Roo Weekend Leaders will be responsible for introducing UA’s incoming freshmen to all that UA has to offer! As representatives of the UA student body, New Roo Weekend Leaders will facilitate group activities, help new students navigate the campus, and provide guidance for a successful freshmen experience. New Roo Weekend Leaders interact with incoming freshmen and have the opportunity to connect with new students and make a lasting impression on them.
