John Aylward

Title: Graduate Assistant, Emily Davis Gallery
Dept/Program: School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration

Biography

John Aylward graduated from the University of Akron in 2012 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography and minors in Art History, Commercial Photography, and Digital Imaging. While at the University of Akron he worked at the Emily Davis Gallery as a Gallery Assistant beginning in 2009, and was one of the co-founders and the First Vice-President of the Folk Photo Association. After graduation, John worked for a variety of art non-profit organizations in Northeast Ohio. This does not mean he has slowed down with his photography. He has provided his photographic services for local and regional organizations with: the Akron Art Museum, Akron Community Foundation, Downtown Akron Partnership, Wandering Aesthetics, Nasa Glenn Research Center, and Guitar Center being a few. He also is the fifth ‘member’ of a band in Akron, as the band's photographer and videographer. While living in Akron, John has seen the art scene grow to a prominence found primarily in bigger cities. Witnessing this explosion, and being exposed to the nonprofit world encouraged John to go back to his old school. Coincidentally, or serendipitously, he is back at the Emily Davis Gallery. This time, in a different capacity as a Graduate Assistant.
