Biography

Nancy L. Holland is an attorney with the law firm Nancy L. Holland Co., LPA, concentrating her practice in the area of business and employment relationships, nonprofit and business operations, and regulatory compliance. Ms. Holland received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Akron; and is also a cum laude (A.B., Drama) graduate of Washington University in St. Louis. Ms. Holland’s professional history includes serving as a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, in Washington, DC; service as in-house counsel for an international telecommunications corporation; and service as Assistant Chief of the Civil Rights Section, Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Nancy is a frequent presenter and published author on topics including sexual harassment, individual rights, business/organizational communications, workplace dynamics and fair employment practices. Nancy also has an extensive Performing Arts background, which also informs her approach to teaching “Legal Aspects of Arts Administration.”

Nancy is a past member of the Akron Bar Association’s Board of Trustees and its Certified Grievance Committee (an arm of the Ohio Supreme Court enforcing Attorneys’ ethical responsibilities), as well as the Boards of the Highland Square Neighborhood Association (producer of the annual, regional “Porch Rok’r Festival), Fair Housing Contact Service, Inc. (fair housing agency/HUD affiliate), and All Faiths Pantry (providing hunger relief to Cleveland’s elderly and disabled). Nancy is currently serving her second appointed term on the Children’s Services Board of Summit County, in addition to many other civic affiliations.

Nancy advises numerous area businesses and nonprofits, in matters ranging from start-up organization, to policy development, EEO and sexual harassment training, crisis communications counsel, and representation before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. Nancy is also a Certified Yoga Teacher, offering yoga and meditation instruction and facilitation to individuals, business and professional groups (including the Akron, Cleveland and Florida Bar Associations), as a tool for both team-building and personal well-being, and for boosting creativity, productivity and harmony in the workplace.
