Production Highlights

AKRON, OH—The University of Akron Dance Program will present Choreographers’ Workshop  November, 1-3 at 7:30 p.m. at Daum Theatre. The theatre is inThe University of Akron’s Kolbe Hall, 328 Buchtel Commons.

Choreographers’ Workshopis an annual live dance performance in which The University of Akron dance students create and perform original works. This diverse performance showcases choreographic works of UA dancers Amanda Kindt, Dom Patton, Kayla Chilcote, Lilia Bailey, Olivia Patton, Stephanie Anderson, Teresa Catterlin. Each dance will have distinct characteristics, some based on real-world news stories, the brain, habits, and sorrow.

Biography

Amanda Kindt

Amanda is currently a junior studying for her B.F.A in Dance. Before UA, she grew up dancing in Lancaster, PA at Lititz Academy of Dance. She has worked with dancing professionals such as Allison Debona, Beckanne Sisk, Neos Dance Theatre, Kara Stewart, Ruben Graciani and more. This is her debut choreographing for Choreographers’ Workshop.

Dominique Patton

Dominique is currently a senior pursuing her B.A in Dance. Her focus is ballet and modern, but she has a special place in her heart for teaching and choreography. When she graduates, she plans on joining a modern dance company in the area and getting her masters in Arts Administration. This is her second time choreographing for Choreographers’ Workshop.

Kayla Chilcote

Kalya is a senior and will be receiving her B.F.A in Dance Performance with minors in Business and Child Development. She began her training in Columbus, Ohio at Columbus DanceArts Academy. She aspires to dance professionally and teach students of all ages. One day she would like to open her own dance studio.

Lilia Bailey

Lilia is a senior and will be graduating with a B.F.A in Dance with a business cognate in December. Since a young age, Lilia has expressed a love for teaching and is currently developing her own pre-professional company. Her true passion is choreography, and she hopes to obtain her M.F.A. in Dance with a specialty in Choreography.

Olivia Patton

Olivia is a senior and will graduate with a B.F.A in Dance this Spring. She has a passion for choreography and has done so with several studios, Magnificat High School and UA’s Spring Into Dance. Upon graduation, Olivia hopes to move to NYC and dance professionally.

Stephanie Anderson

Stephanie is a senior working towards her B.F.A in Dance. She has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She trained at Strongsville Dance Company, Studio 82, and Cleveland Ballet Conservatory. While enrolled at UA, she has performed in many UADC productions, Choreographers’ Workshops, and Spring into Dance productions.

Teresa Chatterlin

Teresa is currently a senior aspiring to obtain her B.F.A in Dance. Following graduation, she hopes to start a professional career with the ultimate goal of being a dancer on Broadway. Following her dance profession, she plans to pursue a career path as a Nurse Practitioner.
