The Marian H. Smith Short Story Prize
The Marian H. Smith Short Story Prize was established by Dr. Thomas Dukes in honor of a beloved aunt. This prize is open to any undergraduate or graduate student at The University of Akron. It is awarded to the best short story as determined by a committee composed of faculty from the Department of English.
Graduate - $200 first place; $100 second place
Undergraduate - $100 first place; $75 second place
Who can enter:
- Currently enrolled UA undergraduate and graduate students who have authored a short story.
- The submission should include the student's name, email address, and student id#. The submission should be placed in an envelope with the title of the award on the front and placed in the mailbox labeled for that award in the Department of English (Olin Hall 301).
