Professional Development Opportunities

Assessment at UA supports the professional development of all those participating in the Academic Program or Co-Curricular Program assessment process. Those interested in engaging more with Assessment at UA are encouraged to explore two options for professional development: Summer Mini Grants and Faculty Peer Reviewers.

Summer Mini Grants

Each year, faculty are invited to apply for summer “mini-grants”: project-development workshops designed to strengthen assessment processes and outcomes.

In 2022, the summer mini-grants will focus on Interdisciplinary Programs. For more details, and to submit an application, please click here. Applications will be accepted through April 15, 2022.

Faculty Peer Reviewers

The faculty peer review initiative for assessment is intended to:

  • develop an understanding of HLC accreditation criteria
  • create transparency on campus
  • provide insight into how assessment works across disciplines
  • create a forum for discussion about assessment across campus

The Director of Assessment trains faculty volunteers from various disciplines to evaluate the annual plans and reports. The Director and faculty volunteers then read and respond to annual submissions using the evaluation rubrics developed for each form to provide feedback to submitting bodies.  The faculty peer reviewers further assist the Director in creating assessment materials, supporting documents, etc.

If you are interested in becoming a Faculty Peer Reviewer, please email the Director of Assessment, Jennifer Hebert at jgh2@uakron.edu.
