“Since stepping into the interim role, Dean Krovi has proven to be a visionary and talented leader for the college,” said Dr. W. Michael “Mike” Sherman, UA’s senior vice president, provost and chief operating officer. “The search committee recommended him unanimously for the post, noting that his management style has fostered an environment of trust, and his approach to open communication has enabled the college to strengthen its ties with the business community.

“Significantly, he has advanced a number of curriculum reforms that — once approved through the faculty governance process and by the Board — will benefit both the college and our students.”

A professor of management and information systems, Krovi’s distinguished record of service to the University includes holding positions as chair of the Department of Management from 2005-09 and director of the Center for Information Technologies & e-business from 2003-05. As chair, the native of India managed the day-to-day activities of 21 management faculty and implemented strategic initiatives of the department. He also was responsible for coordinating the recruitment of quality faculty and students, as well as upgrading academic programs and developing relationships with the business community.

Krovi, who earned a doctorate in management information systems from the University of Memphis in 1993, has taught in the areas of software quality assurance, systems analysis and web design, and information technology management. He holds a master’s degree in computer science and statistics and an undergraduate degree in engineering. He also has served as a proposal review panelist for the National Science Foundation.

“Our faculty and staff at the College of Business Administration are committed to fostering an environment that emphasizes student engagement and success at The University of Akron,” said Krovi. “I look forward to working with faculty, staff and students in the college, with other deans and administrators, and in particular with Provost Sherman and President Proenza, as we work together to achieve the goals of Vision 2020.”
