Q. Why did you transfer to UA?

I decided to transfer to The University of Akron after realizing that my true passions were in business, marketing, and sales. While I valued my time at my previous university, I found myself most inspired by experiences that connected me to leadership, strategy, and the business world. Akron offered the perfect place to grow in those areas—not only bringing me closer to home and my support system but also giving me access to two incredible resources: The Fisher Institute for Professional Selling and the Taylor Institute for Direct Marketing. These programs provide hands-on opportunities, real-world training, and a welcoming community that have allowed me to fully immerse myself in sales and marketing while preparing for my future career.

Q. What was transferring like for you?

The transfer credit process at The University of Akron was streamlined and easy to navigate. Adjusting to classes wasn’t too difficult either. Coming from a pre-med background, I already had strong study habits in place. The harder part was finding my people at first, but as I approach my senior year, I can say that I’ve met my best friends and even my future bridesmaids. Now I feel surrounded by people who push me to grow and truly lift me up.

Q. What are your favorite things about UA?

Some of my favorite things about The University of Akron start with the College of Business Office for Career Services. The staff there is incredibly friendly and supportive. They not only help with appointments but also follow up to celebrate your progress. They host amazing programs and events like Suit Up Week, professional development workshops, and The Institute for Leadership Advancement that truly help students grow.

Q. Any advice for students starting their college transfer search?

If you’re starting your transfer search, my biggest advice is to really think about what you want in your next school, not just academically, but personally too. Look for programs, resources, and student orgs that line up with your goals, but also picture the kind of community you want to be part of every day. Don’t be shy about touring campus, reaching out to current students, or asking lots of questions. It makes a huge difference! The transfer credit process is usually simpler than you think, as long as you stay organized. And honestly, the hardest part can be finding your people at first, but once you do, it’s so worth it. I’ve met some of my best friends here, and it makes all the difference.
