Q. Why did you transfer to UA?

I transferred to the University of Akron for a few reasons. Primarily, being back home and close to my family was an important priority for me after being away for a semester. Additionally, I wanted an education where I felt I was getting a great return on investment, and so far, I am definitely confident in my choice.

Q. What was transferring like for you?

Transferring to UA was a unique experience for me. My first semester back home, I commuted and prioritized work and classes. As a new student on campus, I was shocked by the level of engagement students brought to class as well as the care professors gave their students. I felt very welcomed by my classmates and professors alike and felt the need to become more involved on campus as my academic career went on.

Q. What are your favorite things about UA?

The first thing that comes to mind is definitely the faculty. Each professor I’ve had, I felt they cared about my understanding in their course as well as my future success as a student at UA. A close second would also be the students. Being surrounded by students who have a similar approach and passion for their education was an awesome change of pace that made me confident in my decision to transfer to UA. Lastly, the real-world experience and industry exposure that I have been able to gain through the College of Business have been beyond helpful.

Q. Any advice for students starting their college transfer search?

My advice for someone starting their transfer search would be to think of your priorities in a college education and search for a place that aligns with your needs. For me, I was looking for a school that was cost-effective without sacrificing a quality education as well as fulfilling social experience. In the end, I was lucky enough to choose the University of Akron.
