Part of the University of Akron adjunct faculty since 2011, Rich Heldenfels has also had a long career writing about popular culture. He has been a critic and columnist for newspapers in Virginia, New York and Ohio, including at the Akron Beacon Journal from 1994 to 2016. He has a B.A. in English from Princeton University and an M.A. from the University of Akron. Publications include the book Television’s Greatest Year: 1954, and, with Tom Feran, the books Ghoulardi: Inside Cleveland TV’s Wildest Ride and Cleveland TV Memories. Shorter work has appeared in newspapers, magazines and anthologies.
