Biography

I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in linguistics, second language acquisition, and language teaching methodology. My academic training is in linguistics and teaching English as a second language (TESOL). My primary research interests are in the areas of second language phonological acquisition, speech perception, and acoustic phonetics. My research focuses on the acoustic-phonetic difference between native and non-native speech and the linguistic mechanism underpinning it. I’m also interested in Chinese phonology and home language maintenance in the United States.
