Condemned to Life by Maura Ingraham
Opens Friday, December 5. A free opening reception will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Lynn Rodeman Metzger Galleries, 4th Floor
Condemned to Life, the first solo show by Myers School of Art graduating senior Maura Ingraham, explores the implications behind dissolving religious traditions surrounding death. Through Ingraham’s surrealist lens, animal symbolism and implied motion create narratives inspired by the artist’s poetry.
About the Artist
Maura Ingraham is a symbolic surrealist painter from Northeast Ohio. Graduating this December from The University of Akron with a BFA in painting and drawing, she is excited to announce her first solo show, Condemned to Life. While using collage and layering to build atmosphere, Maura describes her animal symbols to represent the stories of her poetry. Through a combination of application and materials, stories are presented to question tradition and explore reasoning.
