Athletic Training

athletic-trainingThe Athletic Training degree consists of comprehensive coursework with study emphasis on human sciences, assessment and rehabilitation, and orthopedic and systemic disease. The focus of clinical education is skill acquisition and practice during multidimensional clinical rotations with a variety of health care professionals.

Careers in Athletic Training:

  • Athletic trainer for high school, collegiate, or professional sports teams
  • Medical Sales
  • Athletic trainer in an out-patient rehabilitation clinic
  • Athletic trainer in physician practice

Exercise Science

  • Fitness management
  • Physiological sciences
  • Pre-physical therapy
  • Strength and conditioning

Physical Education & Health Education

phys-edGraduates of the multi-age Physical Education & Health Education program have the capacity to make a lasting impact in the lives of children ranging in age from pre-school through high school. You will gain the knowledge and skills to create physically active, health literate adults who can make healthy decisions for life!

Careers in Physical Education & Health Education:

  • PreK-12 physical education teacher in public or private schools
  • PreK-12 health education teacher in public or private schools
  • YMCA or other recreation centers (activity or sports director)
  • PreK-12 physical/health education on U.S. military bases worldwide

Sport Studies

Graduate Programs

Exercise Physiology/Adult Fitness

This graduate program prepares students for advanced study in Exercise Physiology and employment in adult fitness, corporate fitness and cardiac rehabilitation programs.

C&I: Multi-age Physical Education Licensure

This program seeks to meet the growing needs of students seeking licensure in Physical Education. Additional licensure in health education may also be obtained.

Sport Science/Coaching

The Sport Science graduate program has been designed to meet the needs of individuals interested in learning how to become effective coaches and administrators in sport organizations.
