You are eligible to enter if you have been admitted to The University of Akron (UA) as a New Freshman for Fall 2020. Immediate family members (a parent, spouse, sibling, child, step-sibling, step-child, and in-laws, regardless of where they reside) and/or those living in the same household of any UA employee, whether or not related, are not eligible to receive a Prize.
The official entry period is from February 17, 2020 until 11:59 p.m. ET March 31, 2020.
To submit an entry:
The first five (5) eligible entries will each automatically win a UA jacket or sweater and UA-branded Bluetooth speaker. These entries must be creative in nature. The potential winners will be contacted by private message on Instagram or TikTok on or about two (2) business days after the entry is posted. These winners are still eligible to win the grand-prize, or a consolation-prize.
One (1) potential grand-prize winner will be selected based on creativity from all eligible entries received during the entry period by a UA student and employee panel. This selection will be conducted on or about April 6, 2020. The potential winner will be contacted by private message on Instagram or TikTok on or about two (2) business days after the selection to verify eligibility. To confirm entrant as winner, entrant must confirm enrollment at UA by May 1, 2020.
Five (5) potential consolation-prize winners will be selected based on creativity from all eligible entries received during the entry period by a UA student and employee panel. These selections will be conducted on or about April 6, 2020. The potential winners will be contacted by private message on Instagram or TikTok on or about two (2) business days after the selection to verify eligibility. To confirm entrants as winners, entrants must confirm enrollment at UA by May 1, 2020 and must appear in person with proper identification to claim the prize.
Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Contest Rules, one (1) selected grand-prize entrant will win a non-renewable UA housing scholarship for the 2020-2021 school year, worth $2,000. The winner is not eligible for a cash payout or a refund. If the winner does not complete either semester, any refund for the tuition will be returned to the University of Akron. Five (5) selected consolation-prize entrants will win and must choose one of the following prize packages: (a) Four (4) tickets for entry to the President’s Suite at a home UA football game; (b) Two (2) tickets for courtside seats to a home UA men’s basketball game; (c) One (1) Barnes & Noble Bookstore gift card worth $200; (d) One (1) Barnes & Noble Bookstore gift card worth $100; (e) Akron RubberDucks baseball game experience. All taxes on the prizes are the sole responsibility of winner. Your odds of winning depends on the number of Contest entrants. To claim prize(s), winner(s) must confirm enrollment at UA by May 1, 2020.

By participating in this challenge, entrants agree to abide by and be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the University Officials, which are final in all matters relating to this drawing, and the laws of the State of Ohio. A prize won by an eligible minor will be awarded to a parent or legal guardian. By entering, you authorize UA, in its sole discretion, to share your entry on its social media pages (Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook), and official website. Entries may not contain any image or depiction of the following: (i) materials which include or constitute trademarks, trade names or copyrighted works created or owned by any person or entity other than entrant or for which the entrant has obtained owner’s written permission to use; (ii) materials bearing profanities, or bearing the name or likeness of any celebrity, living or dead; (iii) materials which contain visible identifiable or potentially identifiable information, including but not limited to, phone numbers, website links, street addresses, email addresses or license plate numbers; (iv) inappropriate behavior for a general audience; (v) any depiction of real or simulated sexual acts; (vi) violence in any form; (vii) materials which violate anyone’s reasonable privacy expectations, violate any known agreement, or which are defamatory in nature; (viii) materials which are derogatory to UA, or any affiliated entity or person; (ix) materials which are discriminatory based on race, religion, national origin, physical disability, age, sex, or sexual orientation or preference; (x) materials in which any person identifiably appears unless entrant has obtained an appropriate written release from such person granting all rights required herein; and, (xi) materials which do not comply with all other requirements in these Official Rules. Reviews that do not conform to these guidelines will be deleted and no entry will be generated. UA reserves the right to reject or disqualify any review which UA, at its sole discretion, determines to be inconsistent with the letter or spirit of the Official Rules or potentially damaging to its, the Contest’s, or another’s image or reputation. Once submitted, a review cannot be deleted, canceled or modified. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized Instagram account holder. By participating in this drawing and/or accepting prize, all entrants and winners agree to release and hold harmless The University of Akron, its Board of Trustees, directors, officers, employees and agents, including without limitation its advertising and promotion agencies, from any and all claim, loss, damage or expense incurred with respect to the use of the video submission, award, receipt, possession, use or misuse of any prize and/or participation in the challenge. By submitting the video, I am representing that I have the rights to the video submission and have the legal right to transfer those rights to the University. By submitting an entry, I give the University its assigns, licensees, and legal representatives, the irrevocable right to use the submitted video, and/or picture, portrait, photograph, likeness and statements made in the video for any commercial or marketing purposes without additional compensation, royalty free, in perpetuity, and agree to participate in publicity of the contest.
