Biography
Kortney K. Niewierski was born in Canton, Ohio and currently resides in Kent, Ohio. She received her BFA in Sculpture from The Ohio State University and is a graduate of Kent State University with a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture. Kortney makes three-dimensional forms and two-dimensional drawings that explore the push and pull of intrigue and peculiarity using bodily and animal imagery, sexual innuendo, metaphor and tactile materials. Kortney’s work consists primarily of soft sculpture, but she has recently begun exploring the use of technology in both her sculptures and drawings.
Kortney currently teaches Foundation at both Kent State University and the University of Akron. Kortney exhibits her work throughout the United States.
