Neil received a BFA degree in Photography from Ohio University in 1973 and began his professional career in 1975 when he began a full service industrial photography business in New York City.  Neil continued to operate his freelance photography business until 1987 when he received a MS degree in Photography from Brooks Institute and joined The University of Akron as a faculty member in the Community and Technical College where he developed a commercial photography degree program.

Neil joined the faculty of the Myers School of Art in 1995 where he developed and coordinated the digital imaging area.  Neil has served as Interim Dean of Wayne College, the University’s only branch campus, as Associate Dean for Fine Arts, and as Director of The School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration.  For several years, Neil also actively served the greater dance community as President of the Board of Directors of Ohio Dance and member of the Board of Directors of NASD, The National Association of Schools of Dance.  Now in his 30th year at UA, Neil continues to teach commercial photography and digital imaging studio classes in the School of Art.
