Dr. Zachery Williams
Dr. Zachery Williams is Associate Professor of African American History at The University of Akron. Dr. Williams is the author of In Search of the Talented Tenth: Howard University Intellectuals and the Dilemmas of Race in Academia, 1926-1970 (Columbia: University of Missouri Press, 2009) and editor of Africana Cultures and Policy Studies: Scholarship and the Transformation of Public Policy. (New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2009). He has also published articles in the Journal of American Studies of Turkey, the Journal of African American Men, Journal of Religious Thought, and the Journal of Pan African Studies. His current research projects explore the religious history of African American men in the U.S., the evolution of black liberation theology in the modern black church, and the development of a distinctive African American policy history. He teaches courses on African American Policy History, African American Men’s History, American History 1877 to the Present, Sports in American History, and Urban America.
