Biography

Dr. Weigold received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University in 2007 and joined the faculty at The University of Akron in 2008. She teaches courses in Statistics and Theories, as well as supervises practicum students. Her core area of research is in positive psychology. She primarily focuses on aspects of human agency, such as personal growth initiative, and how they relate to academic and personal development, international student adjustment, psychological well-being, and the therapeutic process. Her secondary area of research is data collection methodology, with an emphasis on using correct statistical procedures to assess the equivalence of self-report survey data collected using paper-and-pencil and the computer. She is active within the positive and international counseling psychology communities in APA and currently holds board positions in Division 17’s Positive Psychology Section and International Section.
