Academic Programs in Political Science

The Bachelor of Arts degree is a traditional, liberal-arts-based program. It provides an excellent background for a career in government and politics or further professional education, such as law school.

In addition the department also offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science/ Criminal Justice, perfect for students wishing to work in law enforcement, corrections, or justice-related governmental agencies and advocacy organizations.

The department also awards two graduate degrees in Political Science: The Master of Arts in Political Science (MA) and the Master of Applied Politics (MAP). Both programs allow students the opportunity to develop their research skills and the chance to work closely with renowned faculty members in their field of interest.  Students earning the MAP degree may also wish to complete a Juris Doctorate at The University of Akron School of Law.
