Our powerful work at The University of Akron
Faculty and Teaching Assistants can attend in-class workshops and presentations, as well as access online modules, to get hands-on assistance and practical guidance on the teaching topics most important to student success. For example, each week of the academic year there are multiple in-class seminars on topics such as Documenting Student Learning (assessment), Supporting Student Success (using experiential learning, mentors, tutors, advisors and others to provide support and increase student engagement), and the effective use of classroom and other technologies.
- Documenting Student Learning
- Supporting Student Success Series
- Teaching with Technology Series - Tech Talk Tuesday
- Service Learning Series
Faculty, staff, contract professionals, academic administrators, and teaching assistants can attend in-class and online sessions to support their own professional development at every stage of life and career. For example, faculty can attend in-class and online sessions about how to build teaching portfolios and research agendas to support their retention, promotion, and tenure. All employees will benefit from in-class workshops and online modules on topics of general interest, such as effective communications, team-building and teamwork, stress management, work-life balance, and retirement readiness.
