UA English Department Honors Outstanding Students

Akron, Ohio, July 15, 2005 The University of Akron Department of English recently paid tribute to its outstanding students at the department's annual honors and awards banquet.

Scholarship and prize recipients included:

Sam Ella Dukes Memorial Poetry Prize: Jason Moliterno of Girard, Deanna Craver of Garrettsville, and David Materna of Sandyville.

Zora Ledinko Endowed Memorial Scholarship: Jason Moliterno of Girard.

John T. Dukes Memorial Essay Prize in Composition: Lauren Garcia-DuPlain of Massillon.

Donald A. and Laura Jane Keister Memorial Essay Prize in Literature: Lauren Garcia-DuPlain of Massillon.

Frank Pixley Memorial Fund Scholarship: Khadija Abdullah of Akron, Claudia Armocida of Medina, Sharon Barnes of Cuyahoga Falls, Mary Burd of Barberton, Erin Daly of Akron, Paula Miller of Wadsworth, Sharon Pelkey of Akron, and David Sanders of Akron.

Lois E. Finley Memorial Scholarship: Mary Burd of Barberton.

Dorris B. Harris Endowed Scholarship: David Sanders of Akron.

Mary Mostenic Award for Composition: James Herdman of Wadsworth.
