University of Akron Nursing Students Receive Summit County Medical Alliance Scholarships
Akron, Ohio, Sept. 9, 2002 The Summit County Medical Alliance awarded three University of Akron College of Nursing students scholarships for the 2002-2003 school year. Scholarship recipients are Margaret Farrar and Jane E. Mason of Akron and Kim Navratil of Northfield Center.
Margaret Farrar is a registered nurse with experience in pediatric oncology and pediatric ICU. A graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, she is earning her bachelor of science in nursing degree in the UA's registered nurse to master of science in nursing program.
Jane E. Mason is a licensed practical nurse with 22 years work experience. A senior in the basic bachelor of science in nursing program, Mason is active in student leadership and is president of the UA College of Nursing class of 2003.
Kim Navratil is a registered nurse with 15 years experience in the field of nursing, predominantly in ICU. She is a graduate of St. Alexis School of Nursing. Married with two children, Navratil is earning her bachelor of science in nursing degree in the registered nurse to master of science in nursing program.
The Summit County Medical Alliance, an organization of physicians' spouses, is dedicated to the health needs of the community. The Summit County Medical Alliance Scholarship fund was established in 1987 to provide support for students in the UA College of Nursing pursuing a BSN degree full time. Preference is given to diploma nurses seeking their baccalaureate degrees.
