ACS POLY-PMSE Student Chapter at The University of Akron is established

08/29/2016

We are pleased to announce that the student run organization affiliated with the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Polymer Chemistry (POLY) and the Division of Polymeric Materials Science and Engineering (PMSE) is now at The University of Akron. Dr. Eric J. Amis, dean of the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering and Vice Provost for Research at The University of Akron, believes that "science and engineering student chapters help connect students with their peers and other professionals in their field." He also strongly believes that "technical exchange, social interaction, leadership development, and other professional benefits arise from active participation, and that employers benefit from student chapter engagement as a means to develop, identify, and recruit future scientists and engineers for their companies, which strengthens the industry for the future."

Some benefits of this organization include networking, career development and opportunities to students and post-doctoral associates in the polymer field. Opportunities such as these, consist of making meaningful connections with other graduate students, faculty, government labs, industrial employees and administrators in both professional and social environments. The University of Akron chapter will provide countless benefits to students and we are thrilled to announce its establishment.
