Dr. Coleen Pugh’s presentation at ACS National Meeting is identified as “The Best Presentation”

04/29/2016

Dr. Coleen Pugh presented a paper entitled “Soy-Based Resins and Fillers for Thermoset Composites” at the 251st American Chemical Society National Meeting in San Diego, California in March 2016. Dr. Pugh’s presentation at the meeting was identified by the session chair, Dr. Don Wardius (of Covestro), as the “Best Presentation” of her session in the symposium on Sustainable Polymers, Processes & Applications.

The presentation was co-authored by Brinda Mehta and Dr. Paula Watt. Various aspects of the work from Brinda’s and Paula’s PhD research were funded by an NSF SBIR grant subcontracted by Premix, Inc. (now a division of A. Schulman) to The University of Akron, and a grant from the United Soy Board. Dr. Pugh has been invited to submit a review article or original research to ACS Publications’ Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research. If Dr. Pugh’s manuscript is accepted, it will be published and highlighted as “Best Presentation” in an issue of the journal. Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research is the most read and most-cited applied chemistry and chemical engineering journal in the world.
