Congratulations Winners!

The Department of Polymer Engineering is pleased to announce the Fall 2013 Student Award Recipients. This Fall’s winners are:

Kushal Bahl

Eastman Travel Award, $500
American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Meeting, November, San Francisco
He will be giving an oral presentation on “Lignin as Reinforcing Filler for Elastomeric Compounds.” Bahl is a doctoral student with Dr. Sadhan Jana.

Saurabh Batra

Eastman Travel Award, $500
Materials Research Society (MRS) Fall Meeting, December, Boston
He will be giving an oral presentation on “Kinetics of Electric Field through Thickness (“Z”) Alignment of Anisotropic Particles for Z Direction Property Enhancement.” Batra is a doctoral student with Dr. Miko Cakmak.

Rostyslav Dolog

R.L. Dick Fuller Graduate Award, $500
Originally from the Ukraine, Mr. Rostyslav Dolog is a 5th year doctoral student involved with elastomer research under faculty advisor, Dr. Bob Weiss.

Monoj Ghosh

Ticona Excellence in Engineering Plastics Award, $500
Originally from India, Mr. Monoj Ghosh is a third year doctoral student, studying with faculty advisor, Dr. Sadhan Jana.

Sahil Gupta

Eastman Chemical Company Fellowship, $5,000
Dr. Frank N. Kelley Graduate Student Award, $1,000
Best Technical Paper, Engineering Properties and Structures Division, Society of Plastics Engineers, ANTEC 2013

Eastman Travel Award, $500
American Chemical Society (ACS) Fall National Meeting, September, Indianapolis
He will be giving an oral presentation on “Probing the Structure-Property Relationship in Hydroxyl-functionalized polypropylenes.” Gupta is a doctoral student with Dr. Bob Weiss.

Ido Offenbach

Ticona Excellence in Engineering Plastics Award, $500
Mr. Ido Offenbach, a native of Israel, is a third year doctoral student, studying with faculty advisor, Dr. Miko Cakmak.

Zhe Qiang

Richard L. Waldman Jr. Scholarship, $2,500
Mr. Zhe Qiang from China has completed his bachelor’s and master’s degree in the 3+2 program and is now entering his first year of doctoral study with Dr. Bryan Vogt.

Hadi Ramezani-Dakhel

Eastman Travel Award, $500
Materials Research Society (MRS) Fall Meeting, December, Boston
He will be giving two oral presentations: “Platinum Cubic Nanocrystals: Unraveling Molecular Mechanism of Shape Control in Peptide Mediated Synthesis” and “Understanding Molecular Mechanisms of Size Control of Peptide Directed Palladium Nanocrystals and Catalytic Activity in Coupling Reactions.” Ramezani-Dakhel is a doctoral student with Dr. Hendrik Heinz.

Ren Zhang

Richard L. Waldman Jr. Scholarship, $2,500
Also from China, Ms. Ren Zhang has completed her bachelor's and master's degree in the 3+2 program and is now entering her first year of doctoral study with Dr. Alamgir Karim.
