Night at the Museum

11/21/2018

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History hosted a biomimicry program for their new Biomechanics: Built to Survive exhibit. We shared about biomimicry, and Dr. Henry Astley (the "snake guy") and Biomimicry Fellows from The University of Akron shared about their PhD research and work with corporate sponsors.

While we usually seek out survival strategies from living organisms, not all fossils are failures. The Museum is home to thousands of specimens that can provide inspiration for you. Consider the Dunkleosteus, a prehistoric fish that weighed 1 ton and had deadly, self-sharpening jawbones. (Fun fact: It also lived in Northeast Ohio.)
