The Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) Accounting Honorary chapter within The University of Akron’s (UA) College of Business George W. Daverio School of Accountancy has earned international Gold Chapter recognition for the 2024–25 academic year—one of the organization’s highest honors. The award was presented at the 2025 Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, recognizing the chapter’s excellence in academics, professionalism and ethical leadership.

Under the guidance of faculty advisor and associate professor of practice Kevin Brennan, the chapter far exceeded Beta Alpha Psi’s rigorous standards. The recognition reflects the dedication of its student members and the College of Business’s ongoing commitment to developing principled, career-ready leaders.

“Earning Gold status has been a challenging and rewarding experience for everyone involved in Beta Alpha Psi,” said BAP President, Zach Cutting. “I’m proud of what our incredible team of officers has accomplished and grateful to see all of our hard work pay off.”

BAP is an honor organization founded in 1919 for financial information students and professionals. There are more than 300 chapters on college and university campuses, with over 380,000 members initiated since Beta Alpha Psi’s formation. All chapters must be accredited members of AACSB, ACBSP, EPAS, EFMD or EQUIS. BAP recognizes scholastic excellence, offers professional development and encourages ethical, social and public responsibility.

“BAP gives our students a place to connect, grow and strengthen the leadership, networking and communication skills that will serve them throughout their careers,” said George W. Daverio School of Accountancy director, Julianne Jones. “Our alumni consistently share how much they value their time in the organization.”
