The Zips100 List is back, featuring businesses UA students are encouraged to visit in downtown Akron. In this article, you'll see we spotlight four of many black-owned businesses that can be visited by taking a short stroll downtown.
Akron Honey – located inside Northside Marketplace
When referring to the Zips100 list you’ll see #6. Shop homemade and local at Northside Marketplace. There are over 100 local places to shop and eat within the Marketplace. One of these businesses is Akron Honey, dedicated to providing fresh, sustainable honey to the Akron area. Akron Honey is the bee's knees – serving up sweetness with a side of buzz- worthy diversity, it's the sticky situation you'll want to stick around for!
7th Floor Clothing – located inside Northside Marketplace
#33. Shop the trendy collection at 7th Floor Clothing. In the heat of the 2016 NBA Finals, two die-hard Cleveland Cavaliers fans, Frank Miller III and Preston Clark, dared to dream big – launching 7th Floor Clothing with a championship T-shirt gamble that paid off bigger than a LeBron buzzer-beater. The friends designed a championship T-shirt, even though the series was not done yet. Despite the series being evenly tied at three games each at the time of production, fortune smiled upon 7th Floor Clothing as the Cavaliers clenched the series, turning their T-shirts into instant hits.

Have the craving for a sweet treat? You’re in luck! Also coming in at #6. Shop homemade and local at Northside Marketplace is Essential Dipped Delights. Look no further than The Experience Barber and Beauty Shop! Located just a short walk from campus, this barber shop is super convenient for anyone living on-campus. Open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
