Akron, Ohio, Oct. 19, 2006 - The University of Akron Research Foundation presented its 2006 poster awards at the recent Maurice Morton Institute of Polymer Science Sponsors Day Program.
Winners were:
1st Place: $200 Tasha R. Williams of Amarillo, Texas, a master's graduate student in biomedical engineering. Her poster topic was "Nano-structured Electrospun DNA Delivering Scaffolds for Gene Therapy Wound Healing Applications."
2nd Place: $150 Anirudha Singh of Jamshedpur, India, a fourth year grad student in polymer chemistry. His topic was Synthesis of Hyperbranched Functional Polyacrylates.
3rd place: $100 Shishir Prasad of Muzaffarpur, India, a doctoral student in polymer science. His poster topic was Surface Freezing Driven Surface Segregation in Polymer Blends.
The poster award program was created to encourage students to recognize the commercial applications of their research conducted at the university.
