4th Annual Opportunity Fair highlights pathways for student success

The University of Akron's (UA) College of Engineering and Polymer Science (CEPS) hosted its 4th Annual Opportunity Fair, connecting students from across campus with the people, programs and possibilities that help them make the most of their college experience.

Held on the bridge of the Auburn Science and Engineering Center, the event brought together representatives from student organizations and design teams, the Co-op and Placement Program, CEPS undergraduate research and graduate programs, academic advising, tutoring, the Dean’s Team and Zips: Engineered for Success (ZEFS) mentors, along with campus partners including the Fisher Institute for Professional Selling and the College of Business and Law School graduate programs.

More than 200 students attended, taking time to speak with faculty, staff and peers about co-op opportunities, research involvement, graduate studies and ways to get engaged in the campus community.

“The Opportunity Fair offers students a valuable chance to take a break from their busy schedules, make new connections and explore future possibilities,” said Jordan Brlan, associate director of recruitment and retention at CEPS. “With so many organizations and representatives brought together in one place, the event makes it easier for students to meet the people who can help shape their next steps. Our college is dedicated to helping students find their home here at UA and events like this encourage students to say ‘yes’ to new opportunities within the College of Engineering and Polymer Science and across the university.”

The continued success of the Opportunity Fair reflects UA’s collaborative spirit and commitment to providing students with access to meaningful experiences. Each year, the event strengthens the connections that help students at CEPS discover new interests, build professional skills and find their place within the university community.
