A accelerated pathway to lucrative careers in manufacturing and engineering.

WHY MANUFACTURING?

An advanced manufacturing degree prepares students for in-demand jobs throughout the country. From robotics technicians to CNC programmers, quality technicians and CNC machinists, and production technicians, thousands of jobs are waiting!

 

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

Students at participating high schools can earn high school and college credit at the same time through College Credit Plus.

Once enrolled at UA and in the One & Done program, a student will complete coursework through CCP. A paid co-op will be provided upon high school graduation.

After that, a year of classes will be completed at UA to earn an Associate of Applied Science.

WHO MAY BE INTERESTED

  • High school juniors and seniors with access to a Career Center (CTPD)
  • Minimum high school GPA of 3.0
  • An interest in science, technology, engineering, or math
  • An ACT of 20+
WHY CONSIDER MANUFACTURING?

Engineering is typically described as conceptual, theoretical and calculus-based. Engineering Tech is practical, applied and algebra-based.

Skills you learn in this program are ones you can apply to almost any job!

ABOUT THE INDUSTRY

35% of Ohio's manufacturing employment is within 50 miles of Akron.

It is estimated there are 7,400 open manufacturing jobs within a 100 mile radius of Akron.

In 2013, the National Association of Manufacturers reported manufacturing employees in Ohio had an average annual compensation of $69,551, including benefits.
