Biography

Jim Crooks is an assistant lecturer at the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at The University of Akron. He earned both a Master of Arts in political science and a Certificate in Applied Politics at the University of Akron. Jim is teaching a course on the Fundamentals of Electoral Messaging during the fall of 2021, sharing his insights on the practical application of campaign management built from more than 15 years in private practice in Northeast Ohio.

In addition to his academic pursuits and managing his own communications firm, Jim is a baseball and basketball enthusiast, serving as the varsity baseball coach at Independence High School. He has two sons and is married to Jess, a high school instructor and varsity coach as well.
