Electronic Medical Records Implementation Initiative at The University of Akron
The need for a system to automate patient scheduling, patient accounts/billing, and electronic medical records was identified by representatives from the College of Nursing and the Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology program. This group partnered with ITS to research software applications that will meet the requirements identified for this project.
Implementing a collaborative Electronic Medical Records (EMR) solution across multiple business units will enable The University of Akron to:
- Generate and increase revenue through improved billing methods
- Enable cost sharing
- Comply with federal regulations
- Enhance and support community well-being efforts
- Provide real-world training experience for students
- Maximize efficient use of time and resources creating a sustainable solution
