Making your first appointment: Intake for New Incoming Clients

Welcome to the University of Akron Counseling and Testing Center located in Simmons Hall 306.

If you are a currently enrolled University of Akron student who has graduated from high school, counseling services may be suitable for you. Your first appointment will be a walk-in appointment (called an intake) with one of our counselors.

The walk-in intake times are:  9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except Thursdays. Thursday hours are from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Intake walk-ins are first come first served, so it helps to be available during most of the walk-in period since we cannot anticipate how many students will walk in nor how long you may have to wait. While it may not take that long, you should come in when you have an hour or one and a half hours available. During final exam weeks and over summer and winter breaks, you may call us at 330-972-7082 to schedule an intake appointment.

You will complete some information on a computer and meet with a counselor. Please bring your UA ID card. Counseling appointments are free.

If you are a College Credit Plus student, please contact the clinic for Individual and Family Counseling at 330-972-6822 to inquire about counseling services.
