The partnership between The University of Akron Dance Program and DANCECleveland brings professional dance companies and artists to the Akron community. This partnership provides UA students a unique opportunity to learn from the best choreographers, dancers, and arts leaders in the industry. Each year, the partnership cultivates—through workshops and master classes, professional training, and production— enriching and immersive experiences for UA dance students.
For our 2015-2016 season, The University of Akron Dance Program and DANCECleveland collaborated to bring in Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal - an internationally acclaimed dance company from Montreal, Quebec (Canada).
We believe professional dance residencies are essential to the education of our dance students. These residencies connect our students with professional companies and dance artists through workshops, rehearsals, master classes, and more!

We find that our students feel encouraged and enthusiastic when they are given an opportunity to train one-on-one or in an ensemble with our guest choreographers. Working with guest choreographers enhances our students' technique, artistic expression, and ability to explore dance beyond their comfort zone.
