The University of Akron’s College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering is not only passionate about spreading knowledge to bright UA minds, but also spreading knowledge to the inquiring minds of young children.
On Wednesday, September 21, a Boy Scout troop from Wadsworth, Ohio, ranging from 2nd grade to 5th grade, visited campus on a mission to receive one of their badges. In order to earn the badge called “Star of Light”, the troop needed to visit an observatory or a science lab, and one of the mothers of the troop members saw it fit to contact CPSPE. John Fellenstein of the Akron Global Polymer Academy set up a visit full of excitement and education. The troop had a wonderful experience, and enjoyed participating in experiments, learning about polymers, and visiting a science lab. Their visit resulted in new experience and understanding with polymers, fresh knowledge, and a great deal of fun.
