Biography
Assistant Director King joined Akron School of Law in June 2022. Previously, she was appointed as a Magistrate for the Lake County Domestic Relations Court where she handled domestic violence hearings, dissolutions, divorce proceedings and related family law matters. As a certified mediator, she served as the Director of the Court’s Mediation Program during her tenure with the court. King was also an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and Chief of the Appellate Division for the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
Her interests include developing pedagogical tools for enhanced learning and fostering student engagement with a growth mindset philosophy to achieve academic success. She has made many presentations to the local bar and higher education regarding family law issues, mediation, and application of growth mindset principles. Over the course of two decades, she has taught multiple legal subjects to students enrolled in the Paralegal Program at Lakeland Community College.
She received a Juris Doctor from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the George Washington University. She is admitted to the bar in Ohio and Alabama.
