Biography

Nancy L. Reeves is a 1998 graduate of the University of Akron School of Law. 

While at the University of Akron, she served as a the Capital Punishment Update Editor for the Law Review, participated in the Region IV National Moot Court Competition, was a member of the Scanlon Inn of Court, and served as an extern for the late Judge Sam Bell, Northern District of Ohio. She graduated summa cum laude, earning the 1998 Donald M. Jenkins award for the highest cumulative average in the graduating class, and scored in the 100th percentile on the July 1998 Ohio Bar Exam.

Nancy holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics from Oberlin College (’78), and a Master of Science in applied mathematics from Cleveland State University (’83).

Nancy’s experience in education includes 11 years on the faculty of Shaw High School in East Cleveland, where she taught mathematics, physics, and computer science.  As a secondary educator,  she was an active member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, participated in a national Academic/Industrial pilot program for secondary math and science teachers and was named a Fellow of the Oberlin College Teachers Academy. She also served as adjunct faculty in the University of Akron School of Law writing program from 1998-2002, and has been a CLE lecturer for both the Digital Technology Law Committee and the Intellectual Property Law Section of the Ohio State Bar Association. 

Nancy comes to the law school from 13 years in private practice with Walker & Jocke Co., LPA. Her practice included patent and trademark prosecution, intellectual property licensing with an emphasis on open source software, mergers and acquisitions, and litigation support. Before joining Walker & Jocke Co., LPA, she served for two years as a judicial clerk to the Honorable William R. Baird in the Ninth District Court of Appeals. 

Nancy’s community involvement includes being a member of the Bike Patrol for Metro Parks Serving Summit County; serving as a volunteer photographer and digital retouch artist for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep; and being a founding member of Equality Ohio, where she also served on the initial board.
