Interns are involved in shadowing, observing and assisting Probation Officers in their daily duties. They will have the opportunity to be involved in office interviews, court hearings, school visits, home visits, and staffings to prepare recommendations for disposition. During the internship, Interns will learn what information to gather from youth and families as he/she makes contacts, collect urine drug samples, and document information in our information system. Interns will have full exposure to the juvenile justice system with the shadowing and observations with other departments within the court.

Accepts interns in the Fall and Spring

Interns shadow an officer who writes Pre-Sentence Investigation/Reports and supervise sex offenders, domestic violence offenders, offenders who are also mentally ill, and drug dependent offenders. The more hours the internship is, the more hands on experience you will be able to have.

The interns will learn and perform several tasks, including but not limited to:
- Court records management
- Issuing warrants
- Creating and updating online case files
- Processing payments to the court
- Preparing documents for court proceedings
- Administering the sealing of records and bindovers
