Developing leaders is an important part of the fraternity and sorority experience and our community offers a variety of leadership opportunities to develop and prepare students. There are many ways to grow and develop as a leader in our community, including chapter or council officer positions, national or regional leadership conferences, campus-based leadership opportunities and committee involvement. By holding an elected or appointed position within a chapter, students have the opportunity to identify, test, and refine their leadership skills. Since each chapter is self-governed, fraternity men and sorority women have the opportunity to determine the success of their organization. Fraternities and sororities rely on the special talents of their members for successful leadership and management.
Fact: Being involved in a fraternity or sorority does not limit you from becoming involved in the rest of campus. In fact, it opens many doors. Fraternity and sorority members are encouraged to be involved in at least one other student organization on campus. Chapter members can provide you with the resources, encouragement, assistance and insight to do so. Many of our students hold leadership positions in either heir chapter or in another student organization.
