The Professional Social Media certificate is open to any major, degree, or community member. It serves as formal training and evidence of your preparation in the subject. The 12-credit certificate prepares students and professionals to use social media tools to communicate with a variety of audiences and create comprehensive campaigns for organizations and clients.

Requirements

To earn your Professional Social Media certificate you must complete 12 credit hours of the required four courses.

  • Please note: As demand for this certificate increases, the offerings in classes and times will increase. It is expected that the program will be offered in a fully online format, as well.

There is a growing need in industries across the board for people with expertise in social media. This certificate is a concrete way for current students and professionals already in the field to obtain formal training in social media. Studying social media theory and applying it in real-life situations as they earn a Professional Social Media Certificate will help UA student stand out from every other job candidate.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment for public relations specialists – a position requiring social media responsibilities – will continue to grow. Between 2016 and 2026, the bureau estimates 22,900 new public relations jobs will be created. Social media capabilities are also being sought in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, in higher education, and in a variety of industries and positions.
