Financial Aid for Off-Campus Programs

Transient Students

If you plan to graduate from The University of Akron but wish to attend another institution as a guest or transient student, UA will disburse your financial aid. Complete the FAFSA application process and the steps listed on the ad hoc consortium agreement form. UA will contact you once details are confirmed with the host institution.

Study Abroad

Students who study abroad may receive federal financial aid, but not state aid, for the duration of their program. Complete the FAFSA and contact the Office of International Programs for assistance with eligibility and next steps at 972-3503 or dlb164@uakron.edu or Matt Beaven in Risk Management at 972-6268 or beaven@uakron.edu. 

Co-ops and Internships

Students completing co-op assignments are considered full-time and may qualify for federal grants and loans. If enrolled in academic credit during the co-op, additional aid may be available. Co-op students are generally not eligible for scholarships, state grants, SEOG, or Federal Work-Study. 

Students in a UA internship must be registered for 6 undergraduate credits or 5 graduate credits to qualify for student loans. For more details, contact the Career Center or your academic department.
