The School of Nutrition and Dietetics in the College of Health Professions will have a number of scholarships of varying amounts available to Nutrition/Dietetics and FEN students for each academic year. To be eligible for the scholarship students must already be in one of the programs within the school. Preference will be given to students who will be juniors or seniors during each academic year.
Doris S. Aldrich Endowed Leadership Award and Scholarship
Faculty, friends, and students established this award and scholarship in 1989 to honor Professor Emeritus Doris Aldrich for her outstanding contributions to dietetics and, in particular, the coordinated undergraduate program, developed in 1975. The award is presented annually to an outstanding junior or senior in the Coordinated Program in dietetics with preference given to students with a high GPA and demonstrated leadership skills. The scholarship is based on the size of the growing endowment. Selection of recipients is made by the School of Nutrition and Dietetics in concert with the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Dorothy Laubacher Award
This award was established in 1977 in honor of professor Emeritus Dorothy Laubacher, who taught with distinction for 27 years. The award is presented annually, to an outstanding sophomore, junior, or graduate student in and nutrition, dietetics or FEN. Recipients and award amounts are determined by the school faculty.
Marlene Toot Scholarship
Awarded to a current or incoming graduate student.
Nutrition and Dietetics Advisory Board Scholarship
The advisory board makes an award to a deserving junior or senior student in the School of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Tom and Mary Lynn Crowley Scholarship
Established by the Crowley family and awarded to Food and Environmental Nutrition Majors only.
Tracey Thompson Cardelle Scholarship
The Tracey Thompson Cardelle Scholarship in Dietetics was established to honor the memory of Tracey, a 1988 graduate who died in October 1999, following a courageous battle with cancer. The scholarship provides financial assistance for deserving University of Akron students enrolled in the Dietetics program of the School of Nutrition and Dietetics. Recipients are required to have a 2.5 grade point average and will be selected by the School of Nutrition and Dietetics in coordination with the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
Wallace T. Williams Memorial Scholarship
For Junior or senior in dietetics.
Established and awarded by the Student Dietetic Association. Separate application required and is available on the website.
