Influencer boot camp at The University of Akron School of Communications

High school students are invited to apply for our brand new Summer Influencer Boot Camp. This week-long, in-person day camp is hosted by the School of Communication at The University of Akron.

Participants going into grades 9-12 will work directly with our Communication faculty to develop the skills needed to become a content creator or influencer.

What to Expect

Students will take advantage of our multiple production facilities, work with award-winning faculty and experience much of what the University of Akron and the city have to offer.

The week will include field trips and activities with many opportunities for creating content. Participants’ work will be presented at the culmination of the week to showcase to family, friends, and the UA community.

Upon completion of this one-of-a-kind camp you will be able to:

  1. Create a content plan including branding and promotion for an influencer media property.
  2. Explain the FCC guidelines and ethics surrounding being a professional influencer.
  3. Produce a multimedia product that showcases their personal brand and influencer topic.
  4. Accurately assess the success of their media property relative to the industry.
