Chapter Bio:

Over the course of our first few years back on campus, we have established so much. From winning songfest every year since we have been back, to creating new academic programs to help our sisters achieve and creating new traditions for sisters for years to come to follow, we are so proud of all that we have done in such a short amount of time. We are creating our own history! The thing we are most proud of however is that we have created our own annual chili cook off, by which last year we raised almost $4,000! We also did a quarantine raffle for the spring event, due to COVID, by which we raised over $1,000! In addition to our own philanthropy events, we participated in events hosted by the fraternities and sororities in our community. Our sisters are also leaders. Through leadership programs on campus, like the Greek Leadership Team, and those provided by Delta Zeta Headquarters, like the Norma Minch Andrisek Leadership Conference, sisters are able to grow into leaders and create experiences that will benefit for a lifetime. We also have had the opportunity to attend networking conferences to connect with other Delta Zetas, and be able to get advice about resume building, advice for our different career fields, as well as just great connections. As Delta Zeta has just began these networking conferences, our sisters were able to travel to New York City as well as Washington DZ! Our president was also able to go to Dallas, Texas, to meet all the other Delta Zeta presidents for president’s academy to gain knowledge to bring back to our chapter to continue making our chapter strive! Delta Zeta Sorority was founded at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio on October 24, 1902. We were founded by 6 truly amazing women who came together to create our sisterhood. Delta Zeta’s sisterhood can be found all across the country and it spreads our love, our knowledge, our values, and our courage as it travels. Delta Zeta starts with friendship, it revolves around our shared values to last a lifetime. The Theta Zeta chapter of Delta Zeta at the University of Akron is so happy to be part of a welcoming community and we cannot wait to make our difference in the Greek community at the University of Akron!
