Accreditation PLUS logo from the International Dyslexia Association

The International Dyslexia Association (IDA) has awarded Accreditation PLUS to three undergraduate programs, a first-in-Ohio distinction held by only a small number of universities nationwide. Accreditation PLUS recognizes programs that demonstrate deep alignment to the science of reading and structured literacy. The following programs have been accredited:

  • Primary Inclusive Teacher Preparation Program, Grades PreK–5
  • Middle Level Education Program, Grades 4–9
  • Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist Program, Grades K–12

How to apply to undergraduate programs

NEW: Community and Workforce Education, BA

This program is for students who want to teach and lead outside the traditional classroom. You’ll prepare for careers in non-licensure teaching, workforce training, instructional design, and program development across business, nonprofit, and government settings. Whether you’re supporting adult learners, designing training for a company, or leading education initiatives in your community, this degree helps you turn your passion for education into real-world impact.

Our teacher licensure programs are fully accredited and lead to becoming a fully licensed educator in the State of Ohio.

  • Post baccalaureate programs
    PITP, Middle Level, AYA, Mild/Moderate, and Moderate/Intensive post baccalaureate programs.

  • Middle Level Generalist (Grades 4-6) Endorsement
    UA offers this endorsement, which is an additional content area that can be added to an existing middle level licensure (Grade 4-9, initial teacher licensure). Endorsements are officially recognized areas by the Ohio Department of Education.
