Kiirsi Maunula Johnson
Dr. Kiirsi Maunula Johnson is an active performer and teacher. She is a founding member of the Conspiratus Brass Duo, which has received several grants to promote contemporary Canadian and American repertoire for trumpet, horn, and piano through recordings and commissions. In addition, Dr. Maunula Johnson has performed with orchestras across the United States and Canada including the Wichita Grand Opera, Columbus GA Symphony, Orchestra London CA, and the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra.
A featured guest clinician and soloist, Dr. Maunula Johnson has presented and performed on the national and international stage. Recently, she was featured as a soloist in the premiere of Michael Conway Baker’s Remembrances for the Memorial University Brass Ensemble in Newfoundland, Canada. Before coming to Akron, Dr. Maunula Johnson served as Visiting Assistant Professor of Horn at the Crane School of Music (SUNY, Potsdam) where she was a member of the Potsdam Brass Quintet. She holds degrees from Florida State University, the University of Cincinnati (CCM) and the University of Western Ontario.
