Summit County Literacy Coaching Network

Are you a Teacher Leader, Literacy Coach, or ELA Specialist who is interested in sharing, learning, and reflecting together so that all students experience the highest quality of ELA instruction possible? The Summit County Literacy Coaching Network, an initiative that brings together literacy coaches from Summit County local educational agencies in a professional learning community to discuss and share strategies for effective literacy coaching. Literacy Coaching Network events are held quarterly at Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St. Akron, OH 44326.

In October 2018, Rita Bean, Professor Emerita from the Department of Instruction and Learning at the University of Pittsburgh, met with several literacy coaches from Summit County to begin a study of the book she co-authored with Jacy Ippolito titled Cultivating Coaching Mindsets.  The literacy coaches in attendance will continue this book study throughout the 2018-19 school year, primarily in a collaborative online discussion.  Rita will return in April 2019 to do a wrap-up of the book study and to join in a celebration of this collaboration within the coaching network.
